Moms - do you find that the books you enjoy reading (ok....stop laughing...I know, I know - it's very rare that we get to actually read, but hypothetically speaking...) after having kids has changed?
I used to love biographies, memoirs and non-fiction books, and would save "chick lit" books for vacations and summer reads. I just finished reading Honeymoon with My Brother (awesome book, by the way) and really enjoyed it - but I found it really hard to keep straight. It's a true story about a guy who gets dumped a few days before his wedding. His honeymoon is paid for, so he decides to take his brother with him and they end up traveling across the world for a year. I found that while reading this book, it was hard to keep track of the places they had visited, the places they were about to visit and where they were visiting at the moment.
efore having Acadia, I was able to read all the time. I would read when I got home from work, before bed, in the bath, on the weekends. Now, I am lucky if I read a few nights a week. Sometimes I purposely schedule bath time for me just so I can get in some reading.
Recently I started the book The Undomestic Goddess and I am loving it!! I can pick it up after not reading it for a few days and not have to re-trace my steps. There aren't a lot of characters to remember, the plot isn't confusing - it's purely entertaining. And you know what? I need that right now. Honestly, I'm not in the mood to think at the end of the day. I want to lay in bed and read a book that will make me laugh.
TFT - What about you? Have you found that the books you enjoy reading has changed since becoming a mom? Do you even have the time to read?

I still like the same kinds of books as I used to. I like thrillers and horror books. I usually try and read a little before bed each night though most nights lately I am only able to get 2 or 3 pages in before I almost fall asleep.
I definitely prefer easy reads now in case I can't get back to it for a few days. I used to sit and read a book in a day or two. I get so caught up in them. Now I need something light and easy.
read?? what is that! lol. I rarely..I mean very rarely read something that doesn't have very large colorful pictures and few words. I did find that my tastes changed but in the opposite way. I used to love a good thriller/drama. Now I tend to lean towards something that is more fact based and real. I still love a good thriller if I can get it in, but I have noticed a huge difference in what I enjoy.
I like chic lit--nothing that makes me think too much and even better if I can get through it in one evening!
I always liked easier reads and have kept up with those for the most part since having kids. I don't get to read nearly as much as I used to and it makes me sad. I do try to catch up when Lance is at drill, but I always seem to be behind.
