Back to work

I have been able to spend every minute of the past 3 weeks with my best friend...in this time, we have laughed together, we have cried, we have gone out for lunch, gone for walks, taken naps together, changed diapers, eaten over candlelit dinners after putting little ones to bed, we've had long talks about the future, and most importantly, we've completed our family....

I couldn't have found a better husband or a more perfect father to my two girls...I love you, M...

This is how they roll

My mom just bought us this double jogger and I'm officially in love with it. It actually technically isn't a jogger - it's a double stroller, but it will be good for "off roading" at the park, etc. so I can't stop calling it a jogger for some reason. We used it yesterday for the first time and I am awe struck at how easily it maneuvers, folds up and fits into our car. I researched double joggers and strollers to death - whether I wanted the girls side by side or in front/back, whether I needed a jogger and a stroller or just one or the other. I read review after review, asked friends about their joggers and strollers and finally, finally decided on this one. I like our single stroller ok, but after having Acadia, I realize how much I use my stroller and if I were to do it all over again, I would have chosen a different one - one that folds up easier, turns easier, etc - and I knew I wasn't going to make the same mistake again. This seems to be the perfect jogger for us!

Thanks again, mom!!

Masti-what?!

Well, I just came down with my first case of mastitis :( The night before last, Matt, Emma and I went to bed at 10pm. She woke up at 4am to nurse then woke at 7am for the day. We went to the Cold Hollow Cider Mill for some cider and doughnuts. After that we visited my grandparents for a while then went home for lunch. After lunch, I felt exhausted, which was strange because I had slept so well the night before. After lunch I went to take a nap and when I woke up at 3, I had the chills. I went to the kitchen to get some apple juice and told Matt that if I didn't know any better, I would say I had the flu. By the time I had gotten out of the shower, I felt like I had a full blown case of the flu. Throughout the evening my temp went from 101 to 103.6. It finally broke at midnight only to return today. Thankfully, I have the best husband who has been taking care of me - bringing me my meals in bed and getting me my antibiotics and juice when I need them. Hopefully this will pass soon!!

A couple of firsts

After I got out of the shower yesterday, I decided to paint my nails. Acadia came into our bedroom when I was finishing up and asked me to paint her "piggies" - the first time she's asked me. I had no idea how it would go or if she would sit still, but I brought her into the bathroom and sat on the floor with her to paint her nails. She sat there, very seriously, and watched me paint them. I think the only words she uttered the whole time were "that tickles" in a whisper. Once I was done painting them and they had dried, she ran out to Matt and shouted "ta da!!"

Then, last night after we had all had dinner and we put Acadia to bed, Matt and I took Emma and went on our back deck for some wine. It was an awesome night and we talked for a long time, listening to music together. After discussing it, we decided to try to introduce the bottle to Emma. We didn't introduce it to Acadia until she was 5 or 6 weeks old, and she absolutely refused to take a bottle for quite a while. I think perhaps we waited too late and by the time we tried, the bottle was just too foreign for her and she didn't like it at all. Anyway, we introduced the bottle last night and she took it immediately! It was so awesome to see Matt be able to feed Emma for the first time - he had a grin on his face the whole time. I think we'll maybe give her a bottle a couple times a week, just so she stays used to it and so I'm able to leave her if need be for a couple hours.

What happens when daddy dresses her

I normally pick out the girls' outfits (when daddy picks them out, it always makes for an interesting color combination - pink shirts with red pants, etc.) but every once in a while daddy still has a hard time deciding what is the front of the clothing and what is the back. I burst out laughing when I saw Acadia come out of her room the other day like this...

A nice day for a hike

Matt and Acadia decided to go for a little "hike" around the neighborhood this week. I don't know what we're going to do when Matt goes back to work in June - Acadia is getting used to having her daddy around! She has so much fun with him - it melts my heart seeing the two of them together. She couldn't have a better daddy!

That's the way to do it!

After dinner in the park the other night we went across the street to the creemee stand. This is a very, very rare treat!

Dinner at the park

Yesterday was such a beautiful day that we decided to pack up our dinner and take it to Bayside Park. It was one of those picture perfect nights - it was warm out, there wasn't a cloud in the sky and I was able to hang out with my 3 favorite people....

Finally!

A warm day out there! We decided to run out and buy Acadia a sprinkler this morning so we could play in the water today - she LOVED it!!

I need your advice, readers

Last night Emma, Matt and I went to bed at 9:30, right after I nursed Emma. She woke up at 1:30 to nurse and then didn't nurse until she woke up again at 6:30 am. This is pretty common for her, although normally she wakes up twice a night to nurse, not once. I'm starting to wonder if I should be pumping during the evening so my supply doesn't go down. What do you think?

1st solo trip

Acadia, Emma and I adventured out on our first solo trip today. My friend Shannon had a birthday party for her daughter who turns one tomorrow :) It was great to see our friends from playgroup and check out Shannon's beautiful new home! The girls were awesome - Emma slept through the whole thing and Cadi was in a really good mood. I was so happy that our first outing went so well!

Summa cum smarty

Matt graduated from college the Saturday before Emma was born. I was so worried that I might miss the graduation, having the baby early, but I was able to see him graduate and couldn't be more proud of him!!! He graduated summa cum laude, and even though I know it embarrasses him when I tell people that, I can't help it :) To work full time, take care of his family, keep up with projects around the house and go to school seems like an impossible task. To know he did so and graduated at the top of his class is amazing...since this month is obviously going to be a little hectic, I'm holding off until next month for his party. There will be pics of the party to come!

Newborn session

Emma had her very first "photo shoot" this morning! Here are a few shots the photographer sent to me this afternoon.
