Last night I had a dream that I was back at my grandparent's summer camp in NY. They recently sold the camp after owning it for years and years, but we would go there a few weekends every summer and swim, have bbqs and go to the beach. I loved camp. We all did - it was such an amazing and special way to grow up. My grandfather's grilling, my grandma's lunches (always a spread of sliced cheeses, deli meats, grinder rolls, pickles, chips), fishing, jumping off the dock into the cool water, boat rides. In some ways it feels like it was yesterday that my cousins and I were running around their camp.
My dream got me thinking about my childhood - neighborhood bike rides, forts, following the jelly bean trail that the Easter Bunny left behind, in hopes of finding him, staying up late in Christmas Eve with my sister, sledding, smores, summer vacations, Maine, the ice cream truck, soccer, playing with my friends in the neighborhood.
I am so excited to start traditions with Acadia so her memories of childhood are just as special as mine were!

A lot of things remind me of childhood. Sometimes it's looking at old pictures I have around the house, and other times its random things. I saw a kid eating a spongebob ice cream treat the other day and I remembered walking to the corner store with my grandma and we ALWAYS got the ice cream that had gumballs for eyes :)
usually what starts me on memory lane is a smell. lots of other things do but those are the strongest memory starters for me.
