TFT - Motivation

I know we are not alone in saying that we have very crazy, chaotic lives. There is always a bbq to go to, laundry to be done, phone calls to make, loved ones to visit, dinners to make, babies to bathe. Sigh. Just typing that makes me tired!

We are really trying to complete some projects around the house and feel like we never have time to do them, in between, well...."life". The rare nights when we don't have any plans, we still have to cook dinner, clean up dinner, play and read to Acadia, give her a bath, put her down for the night, then we are completely exhausted! I wish that I had more energy, more time, more motivation to complete these projects, but the fact of the matter is, that when the little girl goes down for the night, Matt and I will most likely be found on the couch with a glass of wine. Completely spent.

So, for TFT, my question is: how do you do it? How do you motivate yourself when you are physically and emotionally exhausted from your day? We could really use the inspiration right now! LOL!

We have to be deliberate about projects and set aside time for it. Like when we wanted to work on our basement we had to plan it for almost a week. We even got a babysitter on a Saturday morning so we could tackle it. I think it is nearly impossible to do projects in the evening so we try to them on the weekend when we have time.

I agree with Kyler. We have to "Plan" on a day to do things we have to do. We have also had to say "No" to outside events sometimes. There is only so much time in a day and we are also found on the couch once the kids are off to bed! Hang in there!

There are some days that I get through because I have no other choice. My best method is to just do it and not think about it. If I don't sit and dread doing something around the house, I can get up and just do it. lol Do I sound like Nike commercial?

Good question... We actually have to schedule it and nowadays get a babysitter. It's really hard to get anything done around here, even if we aren't tired! We have too many kids to take care of to really get work done.

yes, we have to make a plan and set a date(s) to get the project done. if it's something that will be impossible to accomplish with a toddler running around - then we get a sitter. many of our big projects take out all the free weekends we have during the summer months. i think that's why they say the work on your house is never ending because with the little amount of time you can do it all in, it really will never EVER end.

major things as others said scheduled in advance day to day things, sometimes I just say to myself If this gets done now, I will not have to worry about it again for...

Being pregnant makes me not want to do anything. I have no motivation. By the time I get home from work I am exhausted so I just relax and watch TV. I am enjoying this time before I have no time to myself.

We have a family helper, Sarah, come over about once a week to play with the kids so we can get the basics done around the house, work on the never ending list of projects, or just so we can spend time doing things we enjoy...for me that is scrapbooking. Who has time for that with kids! Anyway, Sarah is a very responsible teenager and is great about keeping the kids entertained while we have time to work on those things that are impossible while having kids. Then later in the day we can do stuff together as a family. It works well for us!
