New toys

We don't buy toys too often for Acadia, but this first toy is her favorite at the doctor's office. I saw it the other day and had to buy it for her! The same day, I found this horse for her, and both toys were a hit!! She loves playing with them :)

I'm back!!

I finally realized that I can download our pics to Matt's computer! It has been so weird not being able to blog...I never really realized how much a part of my life it has become. I love getting e-mails and comments about what we have been up to, pictures of Acadia, etc. and it is a way for me to feel connected to people we aren't able to see on a weekly basis.

I have a lot to catch up on! Play dates, concerts, visits to the beach, our friend's wedding - where to begin?! I guess I'll just pick a few pics and jump right in! It feels good to be back :)

Bummer

Our laptop is broken, so I haven't been able to update the blog since last week. How annoying! It's certainly made me realize how much I rely on technology on a daily basis. Hopefully it will be fixed soon and I can continue blogging :)

Engagement

I have been meaning to post some more pics of Miche and Jimmy telling family about their engagement. I am hoping and praying to post a video or two, as well. As it stands, my mom won't let me show them (long story that I am hoping to be able to tell!), and I am really, really, really hoping that she changes her mind!!!! PLEASE, MOM?! It's really funny!!!

Storytime

Acadia LOVES books. I mean, she seriously can't get enough of them! Ever since she was little, we have gone to the library every two weeks to get her new books from the library. Last week, we went to story time at the library, which she also loved. They sing and dance, read a story, sing and dance again, read another story, then do a "felt" story, which is in the pictures below. I hope she continues to have a love for reading as she gets older!

Getting old

Last night was my friend Julie's bachelorette party. It's always SO much fun getting together with the girls, especially when it's to celebrate a dear friend getting married!! But it reminded me of how old I feel lately - some people went downtown after the party ended at 11 and I was so darn tired. I ended up going home and getting into my comfy bed, and falling asleep within two minutes! LOL! Yes, I am getting old, I'm afraid...

Pink eye

Yup, Acadia's first case of pink eye was just confirmed by the doctor this morning. She doesn't seem to be bothered by it, but I still feel badly for her, poor thing. She is not impressed with the eye drops. Not at all. Have you ever seen a worried mother trying to get eye drops into her child while her little one is flailing her arms, kicking her feet, and drops are flying everywhere? It's pretty funny.

TFT - Childhood

Last night I had a dream that I was back at my grandparent's summer camp in NY. They recently sold the camp after owning it for years and years, but we would go there a few weekends every summer and swim, have bbqs and go to the beach. I loved camp. We all did - it was such an amazing and special way to grow up. My grandfather's grilling, my grandma's lunches (always a spread of sliced cheeses, deli meats, grinder rolls, pickles, chips), fishing, jumping off the dock into the cool water, boat rides. In some ways it feels like it was yesterday that my cousins and I were running around their camp.

My dream got me thinking about my childhood - neighborhood bike rides, forts, following the jelly bean trail that the Easter Bunny left behind, in hopes of finding him, staying up late in Christmas Eve with my sister, sledding, smores, summer vacations, Maine, the ice cream truck, soccer, playing with my friends in the neighborhood.

I am so excited to start traditions with Acadia so her memories of childhood are just as special as mine were!

TFT - What reminds you of your childhood?

Happy anniversary!!

In the few years that we have know you, you have become family to us. Happy anniversary - we love you guys!!

What the?

Here is a conversation I had with a 7 year old at a local public school.

Her: Hi. I like your daughter's shirt.
Me: Thanks! Do you go to school here?
Her: No. Mommy says that Vermont public schools suck. I go to a Catholic School.
Me: Oh!....umm.....
Her: We are moving to Texas soon, then I will go to public schools. They have MUCH better schools than Vermont does.
Me: Oh!....umm....
Her: I love God.
Me: Oh!....um.....Yeah. He's....awesome....Well, we'd better go, Acadia!

Thank you!

Seriously, some people are SO sweet...within an hour of my last post, I received an e-mail from someone asking if I was ok. Big hugs to you!!

I shouldn't have been so cryptic in my last post; I'm just feeling as though I am not 100% fulfilled at my job and a wonderful opportunity may have just come up. Funny how that happens...right when you are feeling discouraged about something, things have a way of working out...

Goals

Sometimes, just when you are feeling most discouraged about something, an opportunity comes out of nowhere...

Last day

Today is the last day to enter my little contest. I will announce the winner tomorrow!!

OMG!!

My sister is engaged!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She and Jimmy got engaged on Tuesday evening! We haven't been able to say anything until they were able tell our family. Now I can finally say something! They were having a picnic at the Sandbar beach and Jimmy proposed to her close to sunset - how romantic! They have been together for so long and we have been friends with Jimmy long before they got together, so he is already like family, but now he really WILL be our family!!!! Matt will finally have the brother he has always wanted :)

They are the sweetest most amazing couple - generous, fun to be around and so in love. I can NOT wait for their wedding day! And they asked Little Miss Acadia to be their flower girl! Jimmy asked Matt to be his best man and I am SOOO thrilled to be the matron of honor. I can't believe my sister is getting MARRIED!!! Ahh!

Jimmy's crazy guitar skills

Jimmy can play the air guitar like it's nobody's business!! He is SO funny!!!
