First Annual Paradee Family Olympics

To celebrate the Olympics, we decided to have our very own Paradee Family Olympics this weekend. I don't know how we didn't get any pictures of Acadia ice skating but it was pretty funny!! I just taped two plastic baggies around her ankles and she "skated" around the house. We got some video of it, but not with our digital camera unfortunately. It was hilar!

The score board and metal

Jumping up and down - she was so excited!

The long jump

Jumping jacks - she did 20!

The judge writing down the scores

The crowning ceremony! Acadia June Paradee receiving her first gold metal!

Scrambled eggs with a side of snow

Lately Acadia's breakfast request has been.....snow! So after her real breakfast, I'll head outside to find the white snow, "Not yellow snow, mommy! That's yucky yucky!" and bring it back inside for the girls to snack on. I think it feels good on Emma's two new teeth :)

"Nap" time

The other day I heard some banging around in Acadia's room during nap time. She had been in her room for about 15 minutes at this point, normally long enough for her to fall asleep. I went into her room and found this:

What the?

Acadia eats breakfast and lunch at her "small table" and dinner at the regular table. The other day I went to tell her something and didn't see her or any of her utensils. She knows she's not allowed to bring her food into the living room or anywhere else in the house for that matter, so I was a bit confused. I looked for her for a bit then went back to her little table and saw that our dining room table was blocking my way earlier and she was underneath her table!

I asked her why she was eating her breakfast under her table and she said, "Because, mommy. I really really wanted to eat under my table so I had to hide from you so you wouldn't say no."

Umm...I can't argue with that one!

First steps

Emma took three steps tonight! She's been standing for a minute at a time for a few weeks now and will take two steps every now and then, but tonight was the first time she took 3 steps!! Matt is off tomorrow, so I'm going to try to video tape it and I'll post it :)

Welcome to Vermont!

Some girls on my mommy board were talking the other day about some snow they were getting in TX. Snow is so rare in TX and it got me to thinking how cool it is that we live in a country where some people have never seen snow in their lives, where others have snow for half the year. Some people experience earth quakes and hurricanes, where others only read about them in the newspaper. Some people live in the desert, where others live within the comforts of the green mountains.

So I thought I would show you what a typical Vermont winter looks like. I would love to see where you live - if you want to join me in this little project, leave a comment so I can check out your state!

Vermont is...snowpants, sweaters, mittens, wool socks and boots...

Vermont is...shovels, snowblowers and sleds

Vermont is...looking out your front window and seeing this...

and looking out your back window to see this...

Vermont is...having snow up to (and sometimes above!) your mailbox

Vermont is...stacks and stacks of wood for a wood fire...

Vermont is...building snowmen with your daddy

and snow forts with your mommy...

Vermont is...seeing baby mittens around your house...

Vermont is...laying in the snowbank and taking pictures of pure joy...

Vermont is...going sledding with your best friend...

and eating snow together in your fort

Vermont is...pink snowsuits, pink hats and huge smiles

Vermont is...running around with your mouth wide open trying to catch the snow

Vermont is...coming into your warm home with homemade chocolate chip cookies and hot cocoa waiting for you...

Vermont is...warming up by the fire with your family

Thank you for visiting us - we hope you enjoyed your stay!

If it's too cold to play outside...

why not have some sugar on snow?

Or maybe build an indoor mini-snowman!
