Juice?

Acadia just learned this word yesterday when I gave her apple juice for one of the first times. She guzzled the juice! And all day yesterday (and this morning), she's been repeating the word juice.

I don't think I have posted what the other words she says are yet: mama, dada, baby, doggie, juice, more, hi, bye. I'm pretty sure that's all of them.

She is now reading a book by my feet and pointing to every picture saying, Duice! Duice! She is so darn cute...

Good eyes!

Acadia had her very first eye doctor appointment on Wednesday and I haven't had a chance to write about it until now. InfantSEE is a program that allows all babies under the age of one to have a free eye exam. Although we have not noticed a problem with Acadia's eyes, we figured we would bring her in to be sure. She "passed" the eye exam with flying colors! She had just woken up from a nap and was SO cute and flirty with the doctor! He performed basic tests, such as having her follow his fingers, shinning the light into both her eyes, etc. to make sure she didn't have lazy eyes, the surface of her eyes looked good and she was able to follow his fingers closely. At the end of the appointment, the doctor said that her eyes were perfect and she didn't have to come back until she was 4 or 5. Yay Cadi!

Our little snowboarder

Daddy brought Acadia home a snowboard today and she looks like a natural already! I can't wait to take her on the mountain for her first ride :-)

It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood!

Vermont is honestly the most beautiful state ever. Driving down Main Street literally takes my breath away when I see Lake Champlain and the mountains in New York. But. At the end of winter, I seem to forget how my I love this little state of mine. Winters are SO long here, and it makes spring seem that much more amazing to us. We struggle through the harsh, cold winters and are so content when the weather reaches 40-50 degrees in early spring.

Today, the sun was out and I actually drove home from playgroup with my windows open! When I got home, I did a few errands outside and instead of putting Acadia down for a nap, I thought she could join me in her exersaucer. She hung out and ate her Cheerios with Mercedes. This was the longest she's been outside in 5 MONTHS! Today was a very good day :-)

Letter to my Daughter

My Dearest Acadia,

You have started sleeping through the night again. This makes me love you more than ever.

Love,
Mommy

Acadia's best friend

Matt's best friend Jon and his wife Holly had a little girl two months after we had Acadia. This past weekend they came into town for the first time since they had their daughter, so this was the first time the girls met!!

Things went very well at first...

But by the end of playgroup, someone was ready for a nap!

Busy day

Today we met our new friends Laurel and her son at Viva Espresso. Acadia loved it there - there were lots of fun new toys to play with and friends to meet. She is quite social lately, and it's super fun to see her interacting with the other children. Laurel's son turns one tomorrow, so he and Acadia are basically the same age and going through many different developmental milestones together. He is working on his fifth tooth, as is Acadia, he is standing on his own, like Acadia, he is going through the terrible twos....like Acadia. I think you get the point. The kids played while Laurel and I talked over coffee and sandwiches - it was so much fun.

After that, we went to Kids Town, where we ran into our friends Jamie and Cole. Small world! It was great to catch up with Jamie and hear how her pregnancy was going. I also saw these shoes that I could. not. pass. up. Oh, how I live for little girls in Dansko clogs. I can't wait until they actually fit her!!

After Kids Town and our other errands, it was definitely melt-down-point for Acadia, so I quickly got her home and in bed. (I think I'm ready for bed too!) All in all, it was a busy, but really fun day!

Summer time here we come!

The weather today? Cold. 29, to be exact. And I think I can speak for every single Vermonter when I say that we are READY for summer! I'm tired of being held up inside, and I'm sure Cadi is too. Today I decided to pull out her little froggie swimming pool (ok...sandbox, but really - does she know the difference?) and dig out her summer chair/toys for a little swim in the kitchen. Summer can't seem to come fast enough, so until then, I guess we'll have to settle with indoor swiming :)

Drying off...

Thank you!

Yesterday was our first "photo shoot" for our thank you notes we will be sending out after Acadia's birthday party. It was much harder than I thought it was going to be!

Feeling like I'm 21 again

I had a baby-less weekend this past weekend :-) Friday night was a fun night with the girls and last night we went out with Matti's family. We went downtown for dinner and drinks, then went back to our place for games. It was so much fun, but I'm ready to sleep for a week now!

New friends

We invited our friends Kelli and Xavier to play group today. The kids had so much fun! And it was nice for us moms to catch up too!
