Exciting news!

Guess who peed on the potty last night?! Our very own Acadia June!! It was a very, very exciting night at our house! She was so proud of herself and we were a bit proud of her ourselves! :)

In other news - Matti also peed on the potty last night - GOOD JOB, BABY!!!

Got water??

What a difference an hour makes!

This past week, Acadia has gotten back into the habit of sleeping through the night and waking up at 7:30 instead of 6 or 6:30. Two words - Thank GOD!! She's been teething and perhaps having nightmares? Which has been causing her to wake up 3 times a night crying. On top of that, she's been getting up super early, which makes mommy, daddy and Cadi cranky throughout the day.

What a difference it makes to have our girl sleeping through the night and sleeping in an extra hour!

Please explain something to me...

When someone has THIS:

on the back window of their truck....WHAT exactly are they trying to express to the people driving behind them? My only thought is that maybe they can't afford a car alarm and are hoping that people mistake their redneck decal for an actual wolf?

It worked for me, that's for sure. I was going to steal a CD out of the truck I saw today, but then saw the wolf at the back of the window and ran like hell!

Some updates on Acadia

I realize that I don't write much about stats - how she's sleeping, what she's eating, etc. and I just know that I will forget these little facts at some point. So here we go :)

*Acadia is 17 months old
*Her favorite toy at the moment is her stuffed monkey. She asks for it all the time and carries it around with her like it's her little baby
*She goes to bed around 7:30 and wakes up between 6:30-7:30
*Lately, she has been waking up in the middle of the night crying (due to either teething or nightmares). 9 times out of 10, she will put herself back to sleep, but there are times when we have to go in there and rock with her.
*She is in "school" twice a week from 8-12:30 and loves it!
*At the moment, we have music class on Thursdays and playgroup on Wednesdays. We are involved in another playgroup that meets on different days of the week - sometimes Mondays, sometimes Tuesdays
*She loves it when I sing to her and usually starts dancing and clapping when the song is over (followed quickly by her signing "more")
*She also loves saying, "One, two, three and then blowing" - she got this from my Aunt Brenda and Bonnie who would say one, two, three and "blow" the lights on and off. She finds this hysterical! I don't know what I'm going to do when she figures it out!
*When I tell her "Daddy's home" at the end of every day, she starts screaming Daddy! Dadddaaaaaa!!! And she runs to the door and waits for him to scoop her up
*She is on one nap a day - normally at 1ish and will usually sleep for 2 hours

Dear Acadia,

When you wake up once or twice in the middle of the night crying and then get up at 6:15, I feel like this for the day:

Engagement Party

1. Super cool people? Check.
2. Laughter? Check.
3. Wine? Double check.

These were just some of the things at the engagement party my mom threw for Miche and Jimmy last night. We had SO much fun celebrating Miche and Jimmy's engagement! Being together with everyone you love is so completely overwhelming, and I certainly hope Miche and Jimmy "felt the love" everyone had for them last night :) Less than a year until the PARTAY!!! Woo hoo!!!

Love you guys...Congratulations!

Uncle Justin

A couple of weeks ago, Cadi, Miche, her roommate Justin and I went to the fair. Cadi went up to him (she's only met him a couple of times at Miche's work) and put her arms up to be picked up. He kind of looked at us and said, "Uh...I've never picked up a baby before. Come here, Cadi - come to Uncle Justin." And she was stuck to his side when we got back home! SO cute!

Twins

We had my grandparents over for dinner the other day and the minute I saw her, realized we were pretty much wearing the exact same outfit!! Well...maybe that is a bit of an exaggeration, but the colors were very similar!

Today was a good day

The past few weeks have been very trying at the Paradee household. Someone, and I won't say who (but it's not Matti and it's not me), has figured out the terrible twos and has perfected "the tantrum."

Today, Acadia woke up in an awesome mood, and was SO funny throughout the day. She was off the wall goofy and making me laugh the entire day. My favorite part of the day was when she and I were in the living room, and she went to sit on her little duckie chair. 6 times in a row - yes, count them - SIX! She left my lap, went to sit on her own chair, then changed her mind, came back and gave me a hug and a kiss!!! First time ever she has given me a hug AND a kiss, and first time she has done either without me asking. So precious. This day will stay in my memory forever....

I knew this day would come...

I dropped Acadia off at school today and for the first time ever, she cried her eyes out when I tried to leave! She was playing with the chalk, like she normally does when she first gets there, and I bent down to kiss her, like always, and walked away and heard her saying, "Nooooo mama!" and she started running towards me with her little hands stretched towards me. It was so sad! I picked her up, and brought her to the reading corner and we read a couple of books together. I went to leave again, and she started crying again. The teacher picked her up and tried to comfort her, but she was still crying and reaching towards the door when I left :(

I thought about calling to check in, but figured that if she didn't calm down, they would contact me. When I picked her up at 12:30, the teachers said she had an awesome day with no tears - YAY! Let's hope Friday goes better!

TFT: For One More Day

I just finished reading the book For One More Day by Mitch Albom. Like all his books, I highly recommend this one. The premises being, if you had one more day with someone in your life who had passed away, what would you do? Is there anything you regret that you would want to apologize for? Anything you would want to tell them that you never got the chance to say while they were alive?

It got me thinking about my "one more day", and I would, without a doubt spend it with my Pepaw. I was so young when he passed away, and he has missed so much in the lives of his family. I would spend the day with him, so he could get to know me again, only this time - as an adult.

I would take him to my house and "cook" him a breakfast of cereal with bananas, which is exactly what he would make for me when I woke up from a sleepover at my grandparents house. I was an early riser (aren't all kids?!), and so was he, so he never asked me to get back into bed, so he could have a few extra minutes of sleep. Instead, I would wake up, pad downstairs in my jammies, and there he would be. Waiting. To make me a bowl of cereal with cut up bananas. So good.

Then, I would introduce him to his only great granddaughter. I would snap picture after picture as he tossed her up in the air, calling her "love". I would take him to my sister's house, so he could meet her fiance and we could talk about the wedding. I would bring him to Jillian and Sydney, so they could finally meet the amazing man who melt your heart by his smile. We would surprise Auntie B at work, and I just know he would be happy about her move back to Vermont. Next, we would visit my dad and Uncle Jon, so he could see how his boys are doing.

Lastly, I would bring him to his bride's house...I would watch as they saw each other for the first time in over ten years, and slowly back out of grandma's house to give them some privacy. I couldn't even begin to imagine what they would say to each other, or if they would say anything at all. Maybe they would just sit there in each other's arms. Happy to just...be.

Yes, that's what I would do with my "One More Day" - spend it with my pepaw who meant everything to his family, and to me. I love you the whole wide world and a big, big penny, pepaw!!

TFT: What would you do with your One More Day?

Some updates

First of all, I LOVE getting your e-mails asking me when I'm going to update my blog! It's fun knowing that people actually read my blog :) I have been crazy busy lately, and just haven't had a chance to sit down and update it, which drives me crazy. I never thought I would see my blog as a diary of sorts, but it definitely is for me...very therapeutic.

So. Some updates. (I will try to post pics as soon as I can - promise!)

Matt just went on a boy's weekend Friday until last night, which made for a looong weekend with one baby that is going through the terrible two's a little early!!

He went to Andover, ME and had an awesome time fishing, hiking, drinking, and in general, just going "boy stuff". Love it! So happy he had the chance to get away - those boy weekends are important!!

Friday night was actually a girl's night for me, too! A few of us went to Lindsey's house for a Hawaiian-themed dinner, with proper dress attire - leis, grass skirts and tropical shirts! Uncle Jimmy watched Acadia overnight for the first time!! I was so grateful that he watched her, and it was nice to have a night with adults ;)

Saturday, we went to breakfast with some girlfriends, then went home for her nap, and spent the evening at my in-laws where we had a YUMMY meal!!!

Sunday was Acadia's first time going to the fair with Auntie Miche and our friend Justin. What. A. Disaster. I will have to write more about it when I post the pictures. But this pretty much sums it up: At one point, Miche turned to me and said, OMG. It sounds like she is possessed by the devil! And the sad part? Cadi did actually sound like she was possessed. Sigh.

Monday, we relaxed in the am, my mom and sister stopped by for a while, then we went to Miche and Jimmy's for an end-of-the-summer bbq. Matti got home around 7 (he went to J&M's) and we were SOOOOO happy to see him!!!! We missed him like crazy!

So there you have it! Our weekend in brief. I will post pics soon :)
