What a difference 5 months makes!
Here is my first glimpse at my little girl and then her 5 months later! Time is flying by!! I can't believe the changes in her these past few months. She's laughing, rolling over, grabbing for toys and smiling whenever she hears mommy's or daddy's voice. These past five months have been the best months of our lives....and it just keeps getting better and better!

California here we come!
Matt has an amazing opportunity to go to Santa Barbara mid-November to help out our friend Kyler with a new project happening at Burton. If everything work out ok, Acadia and I will join Matti in California for the week! What will be really fun is if Max and Dan are visiting Ky during the same time the Paradee family is there. I'm thrilled! I have never been to California before and I'm really excited to be going for the first time with our daughter!

Cadi's Baptism
Here are some pictures from Acadia's baptism. It was such a beautiful day! Cadi did GREAT! We couldn't believe how well she did, esp. because she had missed her morning nap that day. I just love our church! Bob Lee, our minister, married us and was also the one who performed Acadia's baptism. It was so wonderful having our friends and family to witness Acadia's baptism - it was a fun day!

Sleepover City
Acadia had her very first sleepover!! She slept at Grandma's house last night so mommy and daddy could have a bbq over Miche's and actually R-E-L-A-X! I felt like I was 21 again - we played actual drinking games! Cadi did well at Grandma's and can NOT wait to stay over again!

Playgroup
Cadi and I went to a new playgroup this morning at the Williston library. It was for first time moms with young children. There were five women (including me) and we all happened to be SAHMs, so it was fun to talk about the ups and downs of being home with our little ones. The kids loved Cadi, too! They kept offering their toys to her and pointing at her saying "baby" - too cute!
It's so nice to be able to take her to playgroups so she can meet other children her age. Even though she's probably not getting a whole lot out of the playgroups right now, she will when she's a bit older :-)

Cadi's Cards
We just got Acadia's note cards in and they are so cute! We ordered them from: http://www.finestationery.com/index.cfm and I highly recommend them! They were very reasonably priced and arrived quickly.

Getting Things Done!
How do you do it when you have a baby? It is hard enough to get the daily chores done - cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc. It's very tough to get projects done, though. Today, our wonderful cousin Jillian and Aunt Becky came over to watch Cadi for a few hours while we ran through the house/yard/garage getting misc. projects done. It was great to have a solid chunk of time together to do stuff around the house. We are having everyone over next weekend after Acadia's baptism to celebrate Matt's birthday and the baptism, so it's a great excuse to finish the projects we started back when we moved in :-)

Girl's Night
I had a few of my girlfriends over tonight. Now more than ever I completely cherish time with women. It's great getting other moms together to talk about kids, husbands, etc. After going through childbirth and the past 4 1/2 months, I have a whole new respect for other moms. It was so much fun getting together for wine, apps and lots of laughs. I can't wait for the next one!

Oh bother...
I have been waiting to meet our next door neighbor. I don't know how this is possible, but we moved into our new house in December, and I have only met John, not his wife. So earlier today I went out to get the mail. I'm not proud to say it, but I looked like hell. All of a sudden, time stood still as I looked up and realized my neighbor was going out to get her mail at the same time.
I looked down at myself to assess the situation. It wasn't good. It wasn't good at all. The first thing I noticed was a bit of leftover pop-tart on my shirt. No time to worry about that - I suddenly realized that not only was I NOT wearing a bra but I had gone out in my slippers! Right. Put arms around myself to pretend I'm cold to cover the chest area. Make "brrrr" sounds. Realize it's 80 degrees out. Feel stupid. Kick off slippers to the side of the lawn. Make mental note to self: throw away slippers. Only wear flip flops from now on.
We reach our mailboxes at the same time and I wave and say hello. I am hoping she is blind and can not see me, but she looks right at me and says hello back. Shit. Turn head down towards the ground and make a bee-line back to the house. Close door and sigh with relief. That "first impression" didn't go well as I had hoped it would when we first moved in. Oy vey.

Vacation Land

We took our first "big" trip last week to Maine. Jimmy, Miche, Matti, Cadi and I rented a house together on the Kennebeck River. Matti's family also rented some houses there, so we were able to see them which was a lot of fun. Acadia did really well on the trip there and back. We were a bit nervous about her being in the car for so long - normally it makes us cranky, so we figured it would def. make a 4 month old cranky!
We spend a couple of days at the beach, one day at Fort Popham, one day shopping in Bath, and a couple of rainy days inside playing games and drinking frozen drinks. We are so lucky to be so close to Jimmy and Miche. We had a blast with them! Cadi's new favorite person is her Uncle Jimmy. She stared at him and would give him a shy smile when he looked at her.
It was amazing to see Matti and Cadi together for the whole week. He is such a natural and she just adores him. Seeing them on the beach together was awesome! We can't wait for our trip together next year! We've been talking about going out west...we'll see!
